Why Should I Select Cedar Over Other Types Of Wood?
When it comes to building your home, cedar can save you time, effort and money. Cedar is known for its natural
preservatives that make it one of the most decay/ rot resistant and insect repelling woods available. Cedar has
limited maintenance because of its low moisture content which provides minimal cracking, checking, twisting or
warping. With cedar’s high “R” value (1.41 “R”/inch thickness), it will protect your home with its highest thermal
resistance level of any wood used for log home construction.

Is It Possible To Build A Log House That Is Green And Safe For The Environment?
Timber Ridge believes when designing a true green home it is essential that all elements work in harmony with its
natural environment. Our log homes are built with low Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which can be found in
adhesives, sealants and paints. VOCs are organic chemical compounds that can release harmful, toxic vapors.
We are also frequently using new innovative ways to conserve energy and reduce waste.

Can You Build A Customized Or Contemporary Log Home?
Timber Ridge Log Homes focuses on building a home that defines your distinct personality. Feel free to bring in a
floor plan or several ideas to create a home that meets your unique needs. Let our design team help sketch your
dreams onto paper and make your blueprints into reality.

Will My Log Home Require Exterior Finishing?
Left unfinished, cedar logs will weather to a silver gray color. Color density and uniformity will vary depending on
exposure and climatic conditions in your area. Most customers elect to apply either some type of transparent stain
or one of the several natural finishes available. Timber Ridge Log Homes can offer suggestions and show
samples of different finishes.

Should The Inside Of My Log Walls Be Finished?
Though it is not necessary to apply finish to the inside log walls, doing so has certain advantages. A finished wall
is much easier to clean. The finish seals the wood making it resistant to stains from oils, grease, and dirt. Also,
most finishes, whether natural or containing stain, will enhance the grain and knot characteristics of the wood,
making it more attractive.

Must All Walls Of My New Log Home Be Constructed Of Wood?
Certainly Not! While most customers prefer the natural beauty of our wood paneling for interior walls, many prefer
to use other materials to introduce different colors, textures, and patterns. Variations range from stone, drywall,
stenciled plaster, ceramic or a combination of these options.

As Our Family Grows, Will It Be Possible To Increase The Size Or Add To Our Log Home?
Yes! We have developed methods of construction that allow additions without undue structural or aesthetic
interference with the original building.

Is It Possible To Include Only Certain Materials In Our Log Home Package?
Yes! Timber Ridge Log Homes offers its customers the opportunity to tell us what they would like to be included in
their package. We can provide you with a material check off list so you can tell us what to include.
